Everyone knows that the best part of Thanksgiving is going back home, and getting up with all of your old friends. Being among friends is definitely a treat in itself. Friendsgiving is the best part of Thanksgiving.
This holiday season, I'm excited to say that I'm hosting my very first Friendsgiving gathering!! Making time to be with close friends to tell them how grateful you are to have them in your life will strengthen any friendship.
What's Friendsgiving you ask?????
It's a gathering celebrating friends as family. It's a feast before the feast. A group of my very close friends will gather with laughs, great food, and WINE!!! There's nothing like gathering with your favorite people eating your favorite holiday dishes. A dinner gathering that excludes family drama, and shows off everyone's potluck skills. The dress code is whatever you want it to be.
Wanting to have your own Friendsgiving celebration? Here are some things you need to know.
-You want to start by picking your host and your date.
-Next, create your invites. I created mine through Evites. It's free and easy to use. With your invite, send your potluck or dish sign up sheet so that everyone can add what side they will bring. Doing so will eliminate replicate dishes.
-If you're hosting, you're responsible for preparing the Turkey or meat of choice.
-Friendsgiving is not a eat off of a paper plate event. Pull out your nice china and place settings. If you're having a bigger turn out, appoint a décor committee to help you with decorating. This is a chance to step up your hosting a bit. Lacking fine china?? There's no need to spend too much money. Try stopping by one of your local thrift stores or Goodwill. They always have nice antique china sets for a reasonable price.
-Everyone must make their dish at home, and bring it prepared to the host home. No time should be spent preparing in the host kitchen.
-Along with your assigned side dish, everyone must bring a bottle wine of their choice. There should NEVER be a shortage of wine!!
-Make sure to plan good entertainment after everyone's bellies are full and glassed full. Propose a game night. Play a drinking game, board games, or Never ever Have I.
This holiday, enjoy your family bonuses. Those friends that are like family. Make new, wonderful, and fun memories.
